If School Boards Drop The Ball, Will The Community Catch It?

While public schools have been slashing budgets for arts education in the schools, other groups have come to the aid of students to pick up slack. I’m of two minds when it comes to this situation: While I’m glad to see that arts education isn’t completely gone from students lives due to programs like St. Cecillia’s Music Center, at the same time it may be setting a bad example, the idea that if a school has it’s arts ed program completely cut that the community will come to pick up the slack.
